The History of the Great Electoral College
The founding fathers were faced with a difficult issue when it came to electing a president. At the time, our nation had thirteen power hungry nations suspicious of their central government. There were only 4 million people spread out on the Atlantic seaboard. Also, these people just having settled in the United States, have been influence by British political thinkers and they felt as if gentlemen should not campaign for office of president saying, "The office should seek the man the man should not seek the office"
